CLARENCE PAULSEN
Clarence Paulsen, the son of Max and Marie (Clausen) Paulsen was born September 20, 1916 in Calumet, Iowa. He received his education in country school in O’Brien County. On June 3, 1938, he was united in marriage to Ida Fegebank in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed south of Granville, Iowa for many years. They moved into Paullina in 1956 and Clarence continued to farm the family farm. The couple’s retirement years were spent in Paullina and in June of 2005, he moved to the Heartland Care Center, in Marcus, Iowa. He passed away at the care center on Saturday, November 21, 2009 reaching the age of 93 years, 2 months and 1 day.
He was baptized and later confirmed on March 25, 1934 at the Lutheran Church in Calumet. He was currently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He had served on the Paullina Fire Department, and as a Paullina City Councilman. Clarence and Ida enjoyed traveling and spent 25 winters in Texas. He enjoyed fishing and the annual fishing trip to Canada.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ida Paulsen of Marcus; three children, Bernie and his wife, Judy Paulsen of Paullina; Carol and her husband, Stewart Goslinga of Storm Lake, Iowa and Leonard and his wife, Cindy Paulsen of Paullina; eight grandchildren, Randy and his wife, Julie Paulsen; Steve and his wife, Joyce Paulsen; Dave and his wife, Traci Paulsen; Ronda and her husband, Greg Jahn; Ted and his wife, Deanna Goslinga; Elizabeth and her husband, Doug Cavanaugh; Paul and his wife, Terry Paulsen and Pat and his wife, Gina Paulsen; twenty great-grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helga Rohrs and Edna Blatt; two brothers, Wilken Paulsen and Lawrence Paulsen.
