CLARA M. JONES
Clara Mary Jones, the daughter of William and Alma (Mueller) Rohrs, was born April 21, 1914 in Baker Township of O’Brien County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. On February 24, 1934, she was united in marriage to Vern Jones in Cherokee, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Paullina, where she worked at Lange’s Café and later was a cook at the Paullina Nursing Home. Her husband preceded her in death on November 1, 1966 in Paullina. Clara remained in the family home and moved into the Paullina Care Center two years ago. She passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2005 at the Orange City Hospital in Orange City, Iowa, reaching the age of 91 years, 5 months and 4 days.
She was baptized and later confirmed in 1928 into the Lutheran faith and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She enjoyed spending time with her family and collecting swans.
Clara leaves to cherish her memory her children, Elona and her husband, Irvin Fransen of Menahga, MN; Richard Jones and his special friend, Carol Vietor of Paullina, IA; Vickie and her husband, David Rausch of Calumet, IA; Charlotte and her husband, LeRoy Schmidt of Cherokee, IA; and Shelley Igou of Paullina, IA; a son-in-law, Waldo Hurtig of Paullina, IA; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Jones of Primghar, IA; and a sister-in-law, Esther Rohrs of Paullina, IA; also 31 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 daughters, Dorothy, in infancy and Karen Hurtig; a son, Don “Nip” Jones; a granddaughter and a grandson; her parents and 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
