CHARLES E. HARPER
Charles Everett Harper, the son of George R. and Chloe (Scott) Harper, was born on September 22, 1943, in Long Beach, California. He attended and graduated from Kingsburg High School in Kingsburg, California in 1961, he furthered his education by earning his associate degree from Reedley College in Industrial Arts. On October 15, 1966 he was united in marriage to Doroty Regier in Reedley, California. After graduating he worked for Thornburry & Allen body shop before buying Kingsburg Cultivator where he owned and operated for 20 years. In 1993, Dorothy and Charley sold their business and moved to Iowa. He worked for Schoon Construction, Circle S in Paullina and drove for Schuster Trucking for 17 years, retiring in 2022. Charley passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, April 27, 2024, reaching the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
Charley was a member of Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in rural Meriden, Iowa. He enjoyed classic cars, racing cars, and judging car shows. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, attending grandchildren’s events and teaching them life skills.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; four sons, Chad of Kuna, Idaho, Adam (Charity), Ryan (Tiffany) both of Paullina, and Todd (Melodie) of Collinsville, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, Jarren and Kaitlyn, Brendan (Jessica), Tyler (Tyra), Alyssa, Karsten, Kallie, Kason, Wyatt, Addyson, Westyn, and Coltyn; great granddaughter, Nyla; two sisters, Lorraine (Tom) Suderman of Visalia, California and Janice Parsneau of Forney, Texas; an “adopted” son, Gustavo Montejano also other relatives and friends.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents, son, Matthew and brother-in-law, Tony Parsneau.
