CAROLEEN F. DE YOUNG
Caroleen Francis De Young, the daughter of Joseph and Carrie L. (Dickmann) Huck was born on April 23, 1935 in Hartley, Iowa. She spent her childhood years in Moneta, Iowa where she attended grade school, before moving with her parents to Sheldon where she attended Sheldon Community Schools; she received her GED in 1972. Caroleen was married and was blessed with three daughters, Gail, Linda and Karen. She had worked at the Armour Egg Plant in Sheldon and for 38 years at Aalfs Manufacturing of Sheldon. Caroleen became a resident of the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa in January of 2015; she passed away there on Thursday, March 24, 2016 reaching the age of 80 years, 11 months and 1 day.
She was a member the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Sheldon Eagles Auxiliary in Sheldon. Caroleens family was very important to her. She enjoyed being with her grand and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their school activities when possible. Caroleen also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening, word search and computer games; bus trips and morning coffee with her friends and occasionally trying her luck at the casinos.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Gail and Doug Martin of Sheldon, Iowa; Linda McAlpine of Sheldon, Iowa; Karen and Bruce Subbert of Stanton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Amy Norman, Kyle Martin, Christa Subbert, Kadie Subbert, Carmen Subbert; three great-grandchildren, Brianna and Keegan Norman and Konnar Martin; three sisters, Delores Visser of Sioux City, Iowa; Evelyn and Jack McCarthy of Sheldon, Iowa; Shirley Huddleston of Ludlow, Illinois; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Mark McAlpine and two brothers-in-law, Dick Visser and Dallis Huddleston.
