BURNELL KOEHLMOOS
Burnell Koehlmoos, the son of Henry and Ida (Richter) Koehlmoos, was born May 3, 1921 in rural Granville, Iowa. He attended St. John Lutheran School in Germantown, Iowa. On September 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Clara Bruns at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage the couple moved to the Koehlmoos family farm near Granville to help with the farming operation. In 1948, they moved to a farm near Primghar. The couple farmed in Dale Township for many years. In 1970, the couple moved to Paullina to make their home while continuing to farm near Granville. Clara preceded Burnell in death on January 17, 2011. After Claras passing, Burnell moved to Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna, Nebraska. He remained there till his passing on Thursday, January 28, 2016, reaching the age of 94 years, 8 months and 25 days.
He was baptized on May 22, 1921 and confirmed on April 5, 1936 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. Burnell was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he enjoyed dancing, playing cards and attending family celebrations.
Burnell is survived by his son, Curtis and his wife, Cindy Koehlmoos of Springfield, Nebraska; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jairren and Brett Flodine, Jessica and Jeff Fitzgerald and Jason and Jennifer Koehlmoos; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Christopher Koehlmoos, Jackson and Sebastian Flodine; brother, Lyle and his wife Muriel Koehlmoos of Granville, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, Luella Daum and Eleonora Jalas and a brother, Elwood Koehlmoos.
