Burdette R. Ewoldt, age 91, of Paullina who passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer ~ officiating.

Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.

Visitation with family present will be from 5 – 6 P.M. on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

Burdette R. Ewoldt

Burdette R. Ewoldt, the son of Rudolph and Edna (Baumann) Ewoldt was born on October 19, 1929, at the family home. He was baptized on October 26, 1929, at home by Rev. Hartmeister. They lived in the Calumet area for 14 years which he attended Calumet School through the 8th grade. He was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland on April 14, 1944. The family moved to his grandfather’s farm in Union Township and later to the family farm. While living there he worked for Albert Gaudian. In 1950, he enlisted in the Cherokee National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1956. On February 1, 1955, he was united in marriage to Esther Huisman, and they moved to the Sutherland area for 4 years until moving to the family farm in 1967. Burdette was employed by Horace Autenreith, Charles Bjork, Paul Polson, and Brockmann Fryers. The couple retired in 1989 and moved into Paullina where he was employed for South O’Brien School and Zion Lutheran School as janitor until 2000. Burdette passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, reaching the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 28 days.
Burdette was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Keith, and his wife Lori Ewoldt of Paullina; grandchildren, Stacey Ewoldt (Corey Zimmer), Wendy (Eric) Reed, and Keith Ewoldt; 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne (Myrna) Ewoldt of Bella Vista, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.
Burdette was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Esther.
