Services for Bonnie L. Grave, age 71, who passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at her son’s home in Sheldon where she has been residing since August. Her celebration of life will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon with Pastor Zac Patke ~ officiating.
Visitation with family present will be from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Bonnie Lou Grave, age 71 of Sheldon, passed away on Sunday, November 27,
2022, at her son’s house where she had been living since July.
Bonnie was the daughter of Reynold and LaVonne (Wallick) Huff and was born
on September 20, 1951, in Sheldon, Iowa. She received her education in Sheldon and
obtained her GED through Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. During the
course of her life, she had 3 children, Neal, Angela (Angel) and Kyle, was married and
divorced, worked in grocery stores (United Food Town in Paullina and Hy-Vee in
Sheldon), a muzzle loading rifle factory (Knight Rifle) and as apartment manager at
Autumn Park in Sheldon. She lived in Sheldon, Paullina, and Centerville Iowa
throughout these years.
Bonnie was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Throughout her
life she enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, reading, and in her later
years, diamond painting and playing dominoes with family. She especially enjoyed the
companionship of her little dog, Chloe.
In early 2022, Bonnie was diagnosed with a form of lung cancer. After several
rounds of chemo-therapy, it was determined that the treatments were no longer
effective and doing more harm than good. In October 2022 she was placed in hospice
care, and in the early morning hours of November 27, she passed away in her sleep.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Neal (Trish) Jones, and Angel Maae,
both of Sheldon, Kyle (Melissa) Grave of Winfield, Kansas; grandchildren, Mallorie
(Danny) Baker, Lindsey Jones, Dalton (Stephanie) Jones, Danielle (Alex) Cox, Brandi
Maae, Brittany and Brooke Maae, and Jonathan; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-
law, Nancy Huff of Sheldon and other relatives and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jerry L. and Robert P.
Huff, Gloria Dunnick and Donna Orthmann.
