BEVERLY A. LEMKE
Beverly A. Lemke was born July 7, 1936 in Woodbury County, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Edna (Simons) Van Buskirk. She attended rural schools and graduated from Kingsley High School. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper for 4 ½ years at Kingsley Lumber Company.
She married H. Junior Lemke February 7, 1959. They lived and farmed southwest of Paullina raising hogs and cattle. In 1975 they built a farm store west of Paullina on Highway 10 where they sold feed and other farm related products. Junior passed away in 1985.
Bev was a Cub Scout leader, 4-H leader, and horse show mom. She loved every minute of it.
In 1993 she built a new home on the family farm. She loved everything outdoors, most of all her Red Angus cows. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, the Town and Country Garden Club and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.
Her happy place was Paullina Lake. She logged many a mile walking around the lake. When she could no longer walk around the lake, she enjoyed going there every summer afternoon to watch the geese and the kids swim.
Survivors include her son Steve (Barb) Lemke, a daughter Susie (Rick) Allgood, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Junior, her sister Sally Johnson, brother-in-law Dale Johnson and half-brothers Lowell, Carl, and Roy Steien.
