BETTY M. REMBE
Betty Marie Rembe the daughter of Rudolph and Anna (Werner) Meehlhause was born September 1, 1927 in Hartley, Iowa. She attended Hartley schools and graduated from Hartley High School in 1946. On June 12, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Rembe. After their marriage, the couple settled in Primghar, where Betty worked in a dress shop in the early years of her marriage. Her husband preceded her in death on December 23, 2005 in Primghar. She remained in the family home and was active in the Primghar community. She moved to the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa to make her home several years ago. She passed away at the Methodist Manor on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 reaching the age of 89 years, 8 months and 2 days.
She was baptized and later confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Hartley and was currently a member of the United Church of Primghar. She was a member of the United Church Woman, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary in Primghar. She enjoyed going to antique auctions with her husband, Don. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, canning, embroidering tea towels and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Dennis Drey of Early, Iowa; grandchildren, Jeremy Drey of Early, Iowa and Kelsey and her husband, Matt Fleming of Waukee, Iowa; one sister, Irene Voss of Hartley, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Gene Harris of Ashburn, Virginia also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, two sisters and their husbands, Luella and Ray Reinke and Faye and Leo Groen; sister-in-law, Joan Harris; brothers-in-law, Robert Voss, David Rembe and Eugene Rembe.
