BETTY A. JUNGERS
Betty Ann Jungers, age 56 of Spencer, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa following a heart attack.
Betty was born August 22, 1948 in Sheldon, Iowa to Jerome and Margaret (Niichel) Jungers. She was raised on the family farm near Hospers and received her elementary education at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Hospers. She then attended the Sheldon Public High School where she graduated in 1966. Betty worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa while she pursued her education in the medical field. In
1981, she moved to Iowa City to work at the University of Iowa Hospital and became a surgical technician. In 1986, she moved to Spencer, Iowa and worked at the Spencer Memorial Hospital as a surgical technician until the time of her death.
Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer and strongly supported the Ducks Unlimited Organization. Family and friends were very important to Betty. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and friends. She especially enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing cards and bird watching. Playing Yahtzee with her dad was very special to her.
Betty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her parents, Jerome and Margaret Jungers of Hospers, IA; a sister and her husband, Johanna and Kenneth Koob of Sioux City, IA; five brothers, Paul Jungers of Oakland, NE; Tom and his wife, Karin Jungers of Granville, IA; Fred and his wife, Elaine Jungers of Sheldon, IA; Terry and his wife, Carol Jungers of Hospers, IA; Mark and his wife, Sheila Jungers of Sioux City, IA; twenty nieces and nephews; thirty-five great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and a nephew, Gregory Koob.
