ARTHUR “ART” W. TAYLOR
Arthur “Art” W. Taylor, 88, of Keystone Heights passed away August 30, 2005 in Gainesville, Florida following an extended illness. Born near North Loup, Nebraska on November 23, 1916, Art was the Eldest child of Willis Judson and Lena Almeda (Barnhart) Taylor. Art received his education in both rural and High Schools of North Loup District and graduated in 1933. Art worked in Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming during the drought years of the 30’s, and married Ruby Van Horn on August 24, 1937 in Loup City. To this union, two daughters, Jacquelyn Gail and Pamela Sue were born.
Art moved to Calumet, Iowa in February 1940, and Larrabee in 1941, were he married Evelyn N. Meyer on July 18, 1954 and farmed until 1969. At this time they moved to Sutherland, Iowa and Art became a John Deere Tractor Mechanic, working in Hartley and eventually opening his own business in Sutherland, where he worked until retiring in 1996.
Art married Elma Kaufmann from Keystone Heights, Florida on July 14, 2001 and resided there since then. Art was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife, Evelyn; brother, Earl and sister, Esther.
Art is survived by his wife, Elma Kaufmann of Keystone Heights, Florida; daughters, Jacquelyn (Leland) Van Horn of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Pamela Tripp of Des Moines, Iowa; step-sons, Charles (Joanie) Meyer of Keystone, Florida; Robert (Midge) Meyer of Raymond, South Dakota; Kenneth (Joann) Meyer of Worthington, Minnesota; Floyd (Judy) Meyer of Colliusville. Texas; James (Dottie) Meyer of Avon, Indiana; Alan (Pat) Meyer of Kirksville, Iowa; Dennis (Jane) Meyer of Powder Springs, Georgia; a sister, Myrtle Johnson of Eugene, Oregon. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, step great-great-grandchildren and of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services in Florida were held on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with Rev. John Roth officiating.
