ARLYS L. JOHANNSEN
Arlys Lenore Johannsen, the daughter of August and Dora (Egdorf) Puhrmann was born June 10, 1942 in Hartley, Iowa. She received her education in Paullina and graduated from Paullina High School in 1960. After graduation she was employed at the First National Bank in Paullina for ten years. On July 11, 1970, she was united in marriage to Rodney Johannsen at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. The couple settled on the family farm near Gaza, Iowa where they farmed for many years. The couple moved to Paullina to make their home in 2006. She passed away at her home on Sunday, April 22, 2018 reaching the age of 75 years, 10 months and 12 days.
She was baptized on July 5, 1942 and later confirmed on May 20, 1956 and was a life-long member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she was known as Grandma AJ. She loved flowers, gardening and collecting ceramic chickens.
Arlys leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Rodney of Paullina, Iowa; two daughters, Cindy (Mike) Simm and Jody Johannsen all of Paullina, Iowa and two grandchildren, Shelby (Brytton) Kelleher and Colby Simm; one sister and her husband, Muriel and Lyle Koehlmoos of rural Granville, Iowa also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Dora Puhrmann.
