ARDIS M. BOONE
Ardis M. Boone, the daughter of Walter and Laura Pearl (Adkins) Dilly, was born September 10, 1925 in Alexandria, South Dakota. She moved to Ashton, Iowa with her parents as a child and there received her education and graduated from the Ashton High School in 1943. On December 20, 1944, she was united in marriage to Andrew J. “Bud” Boone in the United Presbyterian Church in Ashton. The young couple moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where Bud attended Radio and Television Repair School. After his education they moved to Spencer, Iowa for a year, before moving back to Sheldon, where she helped Bud with the operation of Boone’s Radio & Television Repair for 35 years, she also enjoyed working at the J.C. Penney Store. Bud preceded her in death on October 26, 2009. Ardis remained a resident at the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn; she passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the home reaching the age of 84 years, 6 months and 5 days.
She was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Left to cherish her memories are her three children, Gail and her husband, George Thornton of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Dave and his wife, Sandie Boone of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Denise Reed and Allan Feekes of Peterson, Iowa; six grandchildren, Angela and Ray Millard; Matthew and Mindy Thornton; Andrea and Dave Stott; Nicholas Boone; Jesse and Elizabeth Reed; five great-grandchildren, Marissa Boone; Charlotte and Wesley Millard and Jensen Thornton and Devon Stott; three brothers-in-law, Loyal Monkemeier of Sanborn and Robert Henrich of San Pedro, California and Bernie and his wife, Clara Boone of Sheldon; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
