ANNABELLE M. LEITZ
Annabelle M. Leitz, the daughter of Jesse and Gertie (Freese) Reiter was born December 30, 1929 in Wall Lake, Iowa. She attended school in Wall Lake and graduated from Wall Lake High School. She then worked in a grocery store in Wall Lake. On September 9, 1948, she was united in marriage to Robert Leitz at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. After their marriage the couple made their home in Wall Lake and other various towns in Iowa before coming to Paullina in 1960. Annabelle was a stay at home mom raising the couple’s two sons. Annabelle and Bob spent 48 years in Paullina, a community they enjoyed. She passed away on Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 78 years, 5 months and 13 days.
She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Paullina. Annabelle was known as a very compassionate person calling on shut-ins and with hospital visits. She was very appreciative of nature and enjoyed watching sunsets and the phases of the moon.
Annabelle is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Bob Leitz of Paullina; two sons, Craig Leitz of Potter Valley, California and Keith Leitz of Paullina; four grandchildren, Hillary, Holliday, Maggie and Sarah; a grandson, John Pearson; six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Grant, McKenna, Cody, Ashley and Macy; two brothers and their wives, Kermit and Donna Reiter and Jeryl and Eva Reiter all of Wall Lake; a sister-in-law, Margie Reiter also of Wall Lake; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harvey Reiter.
