ANDREW “ANDY” KOEDAM
Andrew “Andy” S. Koedam, the son of Sam and Gert (Zomer) Koedam, was born March 29, 1937 in Armour, South Dakota. He received his education in a country school near Armour. Andy moved to Rock Valley, Iowa at the age of 16 and it was there that he met his future wife, Rosella “Sally” Maassen and they were united in marriage on November 28, 1955 in Rock Valley, Iowa. The young couple moved to California for a year, where he worked in a factory. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where they have called home for the past 45 years. In 1960, Andy started Koedam Agri-Systems which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2003. After his retirement, Andy remained busy servicing his equipment and helping his son, Scott, in his business. He passed away at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Saturday, February 12, 2005, reaching the age of 67 years, 10 months and 14 days.
Andy was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa. He enjoyed his work and his customers, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Andy leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Sally Koedam of Sheldon and their five children, Ranae and Steve Kleinwolterink of Boyden, IA; Shonna and Brian Hector of Orange City, IA; Gayla and Jay Donkersloot of Chandler, AZ; Machelle Koedam of Spencer, IA; Scott and Jill Koedam of Sheldon, IA; 13 grandchildren, Amy, Shane and Paige Kleinwolterink; Dustin, Haley and Brittany Hector; Drew, Kyle and Seth Donkersloot; Blake and Brooke Koedam and Dallas and Dylan Ennema; 3 sisters, Hermina and Gilbert Hoogendoorn of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Lydia and Rich Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, IA; Ruth and Leonard Zoeller of Hawarden, IA; 3 brothers, Bill and Everdena Koedam of Rock Valley, IA; Sam and Reva Koedam of Canton, S.D.; Jim and Kathy Koedam of Armour, S.D.; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Herm and John Koedam; and a sister, Jennie Vonk.
