ALICE G. LONG
Alice Glendora Long, the daughter of Sherman and Ida (Fogle) Gosnell, was born August 31, 1940 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She received her education in Bridgeport, Illinois. She was united in marriage to John M. Huffman Sr. and the couple was married for 17 years. She was united in marriage to Lawrence G. Long Sr. in Spring Valley, Illinois in 1976. The couple lived in Illinois until moving to Paullina, Iowa in 1990. She moved into the Paullina Care Center in October of 2004. She passed away at the care center on Monday, April 11, 2005, reaching the age of 64 years, 7 months and 10 days.
Alice was employed for many years as a waitress working in Peru, Illinois at Hamilton’s 66 and later working at the Crystal Café in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She enjoyed watching sports and had special T.V. shows; she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Lawrence G. Long Sr. of Paullina, Iowa; 6 sons, William Huffman and David Huffman and his wife, Tami all of Sutherland, Iowa; Gary Huffman of Peru, Illinois; Joseph Huffman of Clarinda, Iowa; Lawrence G. Long Jr. of LaSalle, Illinois; Paul Long of Alton, Iowa; a daughter, Mary Beth Cox and her husband, Dan of Bath, Illinois; 36 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her mother, Ida Larson of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother, Albert R. Gosnell of Sioux City, Iowa; also nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sherman Gosnell; 2 sons, Jimmy Alan Huffman and John M. Huffman Jr.; her step-father, Edward Larson; 2 brothers, Allan LeRoy Gosnell and Arthur Irwin Gosnell.
