ADRIANNA TEN KLEY
Adrianna Ten Kley, the daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Van Rooyan) Hyink, was born June 7, 1914 in Newkirk, Iowa. She received her education in country schools near Newkirk and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1932. On March 10, 1938 she was united in marriage to Dick Ten Kley Jr. in Sheldon, Iowa. The young couple farmed in the Sheldon area after they were married. Adrianna worked in retail for several downtown businesses, and she also worked for Sheldon Drape and Blinds before retiring. She was preceded her in death by her husband, Dick, on November 2, 1998 in Sheldon. She remained in the family home until moving into the Christian Retirement Home and then in 2003 she moved into the Fieldcrest Assisted Living Facilities in Sheldon. Adrianna passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at her residence Sheldon, reaching the age of 90 years, 11 months and 24 days.
She was a charter member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa, where she participated as a Sunday school and bible school teacher; she was the librarian and had been a member of the choir and other special music groups. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and any and all crafts. She was an active volunteer at the Oak Park Care Center.
Adrianna leaves her three daughters to cherish her memory, Shirley and her husband, Ed Peterson of Alta, Iowa; Eleanor Twaddle of Staples, Minnesota; Doris and her husband, Dennis Kreykes of Sheldon, Iowa; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Ben and Ruth Hyink of Lynden, Washington; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Gary and Dwayne; a son-in-law, four brothers, and four sisters.
