MARGRETTA BETTY MOUW
Margretta Betty Mouw, the daughter of Leonard Jr. and Jennie (Salie) Kleyne was born September 27, 1921 on a farm near Sheldon, Iowa. She attended a country school near Boyden and graduated from the Boyden High School in 1939; she continued her education and attended Northwestern College for a year. On December 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Maurice Joe Mouw on her parents farm. The couple farmed near Boyden their entire married life, living on the home place until they moved into Boyden in 1968. Betty worked for the United States Post Offices in Sheldon and Boyden for many years. Maurice preceded her in death on September 30, 2006 in Sheldon; Betty remained in her home until moving to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa in 2008. Betty passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa, reaching the age of 93 years, 9 months and 19 days.
She was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing cards.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory her two sons and their wives, Dennis and Sandra Mouw of Sheldon, Iowa; Daryl and Linda Mouw of Sheldon, Iowa; four grandchildren, David and Laura Mouw of Boyden, Iowa Michael Mouw of South Korea, Beth and Scott Jones of Logansport, Indiana, Tricia Mouw of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; six great-grandchildren, Joshua and Allie Mouw; Haley Mouw; Mason Mouw; Mallory Drunkenmiller; Cody Koedam; Chase Hernandez; two great-great grandchildren, Collin and Aubrey Mouw; she is also survived by a sister-in-law, Bernice Mouw of Sheldon, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; her parents; a sister and her husband, Mina and Earl Fouts and a brother-in-law, Tom Mouw.
