HAROLD E. BELDT
Harold Edward Beldt, the son of Fred August and Albena K. (Walgenbach) Beldt was born September 23, 1921 on the family farm near Matlock, Iowa. Harold attended country school in Dale Township of Lyon County and graduated from Sheldon High School. Harold farmed his whole life; he started farming with his father as a child and continued to farm the family homestead until his retirement in the mid 1980’s. He remained on the farm until March of 2011, when he became a resident of the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Harold passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the senior care, reaching the age of 89 years, 6 months and 26 days.
He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed farming, hunting, working on his old cars and spending time with his great nieces and nephews.
Harold is survived by a sister-in-law, Maxine Beldt of Longmont, Colorado; an aunt, Alida Walgenbach of Hospers, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lauren, Howard, Waldemar “Walt” and Milford; two sisters, Lorraine Brinkman and Deloris Richardson.
